The original hard shell case is in good shape but it does have tape on the outside edges to protect the Tolex from scraping off. This Zum has an Emmons setup on both pedals and knees, with the 4th pedal on the E9th neck raising strings 1 a full step. It is set up in the standard Emmons E9 Copedent w/ the E's on the left. The guitar is in very good condition and sounds even better than it looks. It is an "SP" or "Special Paint" model as it is not the traditional Emerald Green found on most LDGs. Being from '81 the guitar boasts the updated "Super Pro" undercarriage & changer. This is an absolutely beautiful example of one of the best Sho~Bud models ever made. The left knees are swapped round (left action lowering, right action raising) and the corresponding on the right levers. This listing is for a 1981 Sho~Bud LDG SP SD10 3x4 E9 Pedal Steel Guitar, all its parts, a leg/rod bag & original hard shell case. On Day (as above) this action is in reverse. The RKL functions I've shown are subject to personal preference and are often changed, some don't lower the 6th string but raise the 7th for a 7th chord, some raise the Ist string a half note, others a full one, some raise the 2nd string and not the 1st but these are all player specific! RKR lowers strings 2 & 9 (2 D# to D/C#) (9 D to C#) RKL raises string 1 (F# to G or G#) lowers string 6 (G# to G or F#) The E9th evolved during the late 1950s and 60s. The Day setup raises the exact same strings only the pedals are in reverse order. E9th is the stock configuration of all single neck 10 string (S-10) pedal steels, and it is the front neck of double neck (D-10) instruments. This can also be an obstacle for those sitting in on another players guitar - the strings may be tuned differently, or the pedals and knee levers may do different things to different strings. There will be three main functional pedals known as:ĪBC (123) on Emmons and CBA (321) on Day (regardless of the levers)Ĭ (3) raises strings 4 & 5 (4 E to F#) 5 (B to C#) One of the wonderful things about pedal steel guitar is that the pedals and knee levers can be configured in an almost infinite variety of ways to suit an individual players style and preferences. We always have new guitars on order and have a. Moved D knee lever to RKR, F knee lever to RKL. Steel Guitar East is an authorized Emmons dealer and repair centerWe purchase used pedal steel guitars. which was set up Emmons, In less than a week the hood was open and changing it to Day Setup. It made for easy 7th chords and up 3 frets moves same chord. For about 17 years I had D knee lever LKL and F knee lever LKR. Regardless of the number of extra pedals on your guitar or how they are placed. I have played Day set up since the late 1960s. If you understand the functions of the pedals and levers it should make little odds which books you get for instruction. Nine out of ten players will tell you that
